Dog-sitting and good company

Sweet Rina,

Today, we got to dog-sit Ayla. She came to hang out with us while you slept (and slept, and slept some more. Making up for all those missed nap, are you?!?). It was all good though as Little K came over for a lovely visit. We got to chat uninterrupted while Ayla snored on the carpet.  When you woke up, I put you in your back pack and we all took off for the Swan Lake / Christmas Hill loop. I couldn’t believe Little K had never been there before. The view from the top is usually so nice, but since it was overcast today, here’s what it looked like (taken with my iPhone, sorry)

Still a lovely vista, despite all the clouds

We came back home and Little K had to leave (she’s working tonight) and you and I went to get Ayla once more. We played outside a little and then you pretty much chased poor Ayla around the apartment. She could easily escape you (as she’s mastered the 4-leg walking and you’re still figuring out the whole crawling thing), but I could tell she was getting a little bit overwhelmed with your incessant chasing and screeching at her! I let her out of her misery and sent her back in the peace of her own home (she lives upstairs from where we live). Overall, it was another great day! Tomorrow, we’ll get together with SuperMama and her SuperGirls and I’ll try to do something with the fuzzball that my hair has become! Should be interesting!

Last days of summer…

Sweet Rina,

Since it was a really nice day today, we hooked up with our new friend from the park (with her daughter, of course) and decided to go for a walk around Swan Lake. They’ve been living here for 5 years and had never been there before! We had a nice time and it was really nice to speak French for well over an hour! Don’t get me wrong, I speak French to you all the time, but I don’t really get much feedback from you! 😉 Although, I’m not quite sure, but I think you said “Fini” after you were done drinking your bottle tonight!

After our walk, you (finally) took a nap! It’s been a struggle to get you to nap lately as you are teething and I think you’re trying to get rid of a nap during the day. However, today, you had a good nap this afternoon and I sat outside with a magazine and enjoyed the sunny day”

I may have dozed off shortly after this picture was taken! 🙂

It had been a while since I took some time to myself, no cleaning, cooking or folding laundry during the day and it felt good to do so. When you woke up, you had dinner and then we did a quick run to Walmart (I know, I know) to get your Dad some coffee and I also found a few pieces of clothing that were too cute to resist! After all, you’ll have to be cute when we go on our trip to see your grandparents! 14 days until we leave! It’ll be nice to see everyone, but I will miss your Dad A LOT! I’m sure it’ll fly by though and we have Skype, so we should be ok.

Sweet dreams my gorgeous girl,

It’s a hot one!

Sweet Rina,

I managed to get all my chores out of the way early in the morning and we took off for a walk early afternoon.I had grand ambitions of doing the loop around Swan Lake and hiking up to Christmas Hill with you on my back, but as we stepped outside into the blazing, gorgeous 28ºC day, I knew I was only going to stick around the lake. There was no way I was going to take us up the hill today! It normally takes us 45mins to go around the lake loop and today, it took us 1hr. I was slowed down by the heat and we also took some time to look at sparrows and ducks.

Coming back home, I even took out the fans (the same fans your Dad and I were just mentioning over the weekend, saying we hadn’t had to use them this year 😉 ) and put one in your room so you could catch a somewhat comfortable nap and I could also be comfortable in the living room. I’m just thankful our place is naturally cool, being closer to the ground.

I think the heat is getting to you as you are napping again. Here’s to hoping it will cool off as the sun goes down and we get a cool night!

Love,
